Why it works
Shooting and map knowledge are your rating
Open the averages by level: accuracy, damage and K/D rise with the FACEIT level almost without exception. The surer your shooting and the better you know the map, the higher you climb.
Lineups open the site
Standard smokes, flashes and molotovs for an execute cut the defenders' view and push them off their spots. Learn them for your maps, and taking a site gets much easier while your round wins go up.
Warm up, but not too much
Always warm up before playing, but don't wear yourself out: 100–200 bots or 15–20 won rounds on a rush map is enough. Your hand should wake up, not be tired by the first match.
A little, but often
Besides warming up, spend a little time on aim and positional play: one map's prefires and lineups in an evening give more than a rare session of several hours.
How to start
- 1Open the map in the Steam Workshop and click Subscribe; CS2 downloads it on its own.
- 2In CS2 go to Play → Workshop Maps.
- 3Pick the map and start it: no server or friends needed to practise.
Some cards have a console command: copy it, open the console (~) and paste it, and the map starts right away.
Cards marked Guide are not maps but hints over CS2's own practice mode: after subscribing you turn them on in Play → Practice; the card says how.
Shooting and warm-up
These fit any map in the pool: warming up before playing, aim and reaction, recoil control, playing against several enemies.
The classic aim map: bots stand around you, and you switch on their movement, armour, infinite ammo and walls to peek from. Any weapon is one button away.
What it trains
- Crosshair at head level
- Shooting from a standstill and short bursts
- Peeking from behind a wall
Tip: To warm up: 100–200 kills from a standstill with your crosshair at head level. You don't need more before a match.
The map simulates a rush: several bots come at you at once, and you have to take them down one by one in time. Targets never stop moving, and you pick the arena and the weapons. It is a CS2 remake of the warm-up map its author practised on back in CS:GO.
What it trains
- Hitting moving targets rather than bots that stand still
- Moving your crosshair quickly from one enemy to the next
- Staying calm when several enemies push you at once, as in a one-versus-many clutch
Tip: To warm up before a match, win 15–20 rounds. To practise, start with 3 bots on arena 1.5, and once you win steadily, raise it to 4. To get back to the menu, shoot the sign in the top right of the arena.
A warm-up aim map with three modes: Flick, sharp horizontal crosshair moves; Rush, bots run at you and the attempt restarts if they reach you; Speed, kills against the clock. Your best scores are kept between visits.
What it trains
- Sharp crosshair moves (flicks)
- Shooting bots that strafe
- Speed: you see whether your score improves from one try to the next
Tip: One or two rounds of each mode are enough to warm up. Typing !restart in chat starts the map over.
Bots dart out and hide again: you have a split second to shoot. A CS2 remake by the author of the original map.
What it trains
- Reacting to an enemy who appears suddenly
- Fast and accurate crosshair moves
- A first shot to the head
Tip: The number of bots is set with a console command (below, an example for 6 bots). Start small and add one at a time.
Console command
bot_quota 6A guide is drawn on the wall, and you follow it with your crosshair while spraying; that is how your hand learns to cancel the recoil. AK-47, M4A4, M4A1-S, FAMAS, Galil AR, unscoped AUG and SG 553, SMGs and the CZ75-Auto are there.
What it trains
- Spray control with the AK-47 and M4
- Finishing kills: the spray stays on target after the first bullets
- Crosshair at head level while shooting
Tip: Start up close with the slow-motion on (it turns on by itself when you spray; E turns it off), then step further back. 10–15 minutes at a time is enough.
A set of drills for basic shooting: different scenarios with targets to hit as quickly and accurately as you can.
What it trains
- Reaction speed
- First-shot accuracy
- Switching between targets
Tip: A good addition to your main aim practice: a few scenarios, 5 minutes each.
Practice for a specific map
Prefires, lineups and instant smokes for the map pool, plus Overpass, Train and Vertigo from past seasons. If the coach found a weak map, start here.
Prefires
Learned angles: your crosshair is already where the enemy appears. Won duels start here.
Every prefire angle on Ancient. Bots take one of 240 positions each time, so you can't learn the order, only the angles themselves.
What it trains
- Crosshair ready at head level in every corner of Ancient
- Clearing positions along attack and defence routes
- A first bullet to the head, not the body
Tip: Three bot difficulty levels. The radio (Z) opens the settings: random bot positions, model colours, infinite ammo.
Prefire practice for Ancient with 4 difficulty levels and 8 routes, both site takes and holding positions. The scenes repeat real fights on this map.
What it trains
- Prefires along entry routes
- Holding positions on defence
- Body and crosshair position as you come round a corner
Tip: Start on the easy level and clear a route without dying before you raise the difficulty.
An obstacle course through Ancient: bots stand on the map's real positions and you clear it from start to finish. Handy for warming up; it starts even while you are queuing for a match.
What it trains
- Shooting at the standard positions of Ancient
- Moving your crosshair from angle to angle on the move
- Warming up right in the match queue
Tip: Copy the command and paste it into the console while a match is being found: the course starts right away.

Grenade lineups
Smokes, flashes and molotovs that make taking and holding a site much easier.
An interactive lineup map for Ancient: smokes, molotovs and flashes with clear spots to throw from and to. Made together with the professional team Astralis.
What it trains
- Standard smokes for executes and for defence
- Molotovs that push enemies off their spots
- Flashes for your own entry and for a teammate
Tip: Learn 2–3 grenades for one site at a time and try them in matches straight away; that is how they stick.
A lineup guide for Ancient on T side: smokes, flashes, molotovs and wallbangs with markers right on the map showing where to stand and where to aim. It is not a separate map but hints laid over CS2's own practice mode.
What it trains
- Smokes and flashes for executes on both sites
- Molotovs that push defenders off their spots
- Wallbangs through common positions
Tip: Learn one site's whole execute (smoke, flash and molotov) and try it in a match straight away.

Open in the Steam WorkshopA lineup guide for Ancient on CT side: smokes, flashes and molotovs that delay the attackers, and grenades for the retake, with markers right on the map. It is not a separate map but hints laid over CS2's own practice mode.
What it trains
- Smokes and molotovs that delay a push
- Flashes for re-taking a position
- Grenades for a site retake
Tip: Start with 2–3 grenades for your usual CT position; you will throw them almost every round.
Where to find it: This is a guide, not a map. Subscribe to it in the Workshop, then in CS2 open Play → Practice, pick Ancient and turn on this lineup guide.

Instant smokes
Smokes straight from spawn: they block a route in the first seconds of the round, before the enemy can get there.
Smokes from spawn on Ancient, including the mid window and connector: they close key routes in the first seconds of the round.
What it trains
- Throws from spawn by exact markers
- Control of a key route from the first seconds of the round
- Jump throws and running throws; the map shows which one
Tip: Practise each smoke until it lands the same way 10 times in a row: in a match there is no time for a second throw.
Instant grenades on Ancient from spawn: on T side, window smokes and an anti-elbow molotov; on CT side, elbow, B doors and A main smokes.
What it trains
- Throws from spawn by exact markers
- Control of a key route from the first seconds of the round
- Hints right inside a competitive match
Tip: This guide also works in online matches: for the first 5 rounds of each half, turned on from the Esc menu (top left).
Where to find it: This is a guide, not a map. Subscribe in the Workshop, then in CS2 open Play → Practice, pick Ancient and turn the guide on, or turn it on right in a competitive match from the Esc menu.
